For many, June represents the month of pride; a hour to celebrate, teach and communicate all that is gay, gay and fabulous. Although today entity gay isn’t much of a deal, back in the 50’s it was a dangerous label to have. Throughout history, thousands contain lost their lives because they were labeled as ‘gay’ or ‘queer’ and many lived out their true sexual preferences in secrecy. As it’s almost the end of Pride month, I wanted to own a look at some celebrities from the golden age of Hollywood who were gay, or at least thats what the rumours said. It’s hard to know if all these celebrities, and of course many more, were truly gay, but I wanted to share a several stories just so see how far we’ve come. Content pride everyone.

These days, it's common for celebrities to publicly come out as gay in the media, but that wasn't always the case. Several eminent gay celebrities remained in the closet throughout their entire lives.

Though he was married five times to five different women, many people believed that Cary Grant was actually gay. He lived with performer Randolph Scott on and off for over a decade and he was also rumored to have hired male prostitutes.

Despite his flashy stage presence, Liberace never officially came out as same-sex attracted. He even went so far as to sue a publication for libel when they printed that he was gay. Liberace's companion, Betty White, has stated that the musician was, in fact, homosexual. Other secretly closeted feature stars include Rock Hudson, Anthony Perkins, and Robert Reed.

List of famous gay people who were married to spouses of the contrary sex, loosely ranked by fame and popularity. Several people who have approach out as gay own been married. Some people married before they fully recognized that they were gay, while others used their marriages to maintain their sexuality a private from the public.

Who is the most famous queer person who was married? Elton John tops our list. The singer married Renate Blauel, a German recording engineer, in 1984. Many people in the media speculated that the marriage was to cover up John's sexuality, as he had previously stated that he was attracted to both genders. They divorced in 1988, and John told Rolling Stone magazine that he "was comfortable being gay." He married David Furnish, who he had been in a relationship with since 1993, in 2005.

Several famous gay actors were married to women in their lives. Anthony Perkins was married to the actress Berry Berenson. The couple had two children: Oz Perkins (born 1974) and Elvis Perkins (born 1976). Perkins had several relationships with men prior to his marriage. He died from AIDS akin complications in 1992.
