The purpose of the D.C. Gay Basketball League is to provide a joy, supportive and guarded venue for, but not limited to, the lesbian, queer , bisexual, transgender and questioning (LGBTQ) group and ally athletes of various technique levels who appreciate the game of basketball. The DCGBL goal is to foster a secure, positive environment on and off the field that encourages athletic competition, camaraderie, and community for its participants and also to make lasting and meaningful relationships among people from all walks of life in the Greater Washington D.C. area.
Located in Washington, D.C. with over 80 league players, the league continues to foster relationships with local businesses and organizations in support of creating a protected and friendly environment for all. The league is uncover and welcoming to all skill levels, from those who have played for years to those who are fresh to the game of basketball.

Formed in 2000, originally in association with the London Cruisers, as featured in media by BBC News and GoSport, the Knights train weekly at the Jet Prince Trust, Vauxhall.
The Knights contend in GoMammoth in the UK and have won medals internationally at EuroGames, GayGames and other European LGBT+ basketball competitions.
Regular Training
We host weekly training sessions at the Regal and Jordan Basketball court in Vauxhall. Sessions are two hours and include a mix of competitive play and skill development.
Tournaments
As a team, we regularly attend international tournaments hosted within the European Gay Basketball community. Some recent destinations include: Paris, Milan, Amsterdam, Berlin, and more to come.
Social Events
We host regular events to socialise with the team, these include: watching professional and amateur basketball, matches, quizzes, music gigs, karaoke and more!

Vorspiel Berlin Summer Slam 2025
Get ready for a casual summer basketball tournament hosted by Vorspiel Berlin! We're hitting the outdoor courts at Friedrich-Ludwig-Jahn-Sportpark on August 30th.
Join us for 5v5 full-court action, food, and good vibes. We're inviting international and local teams for a relaxed diurnal of hoops and group. Rain? No problem, we have indoor courts as backup!

Outdoor Basketball Tournament - August 30th
Update from the Vorspiel Berlin Team! We were approved and received access to the Berlin Alba official outdoor basketball court this summer and we are looking to host an outdoor summer tournament on August 30th with food and other fun summer associated activities. This one will be super casual and relaxed but we wanted to extend the propose to any international teams that wish to combine us. Additionally, we will also be inviting some local Berlin teams to play in the tournament as well. It's packed court 5v5 across 3 courts.
