Exploring Why Zack Snyder Chose Ezra Miller as Barry Allen

Ezra Miller, who played two versions of Barry Allen in 2023’s The Flash, identifies as nonbinary while openly using they/them pronouns.

They first came out as Queer endorse in 2012 during a press tour for the adaptation of Perks of Being a Wallflower.

As it so happens, it was the same film that convinced Zack Snyder to cast Miller as the Scarlet Speedster back in 2017’s Justice League.

Apparently, Snyder had been sold on Miller playing Barry Allen since the “day I saw him in Perks of Being a Wallflower.”

At the hour, Miller was illustrating a closeted queer character in Perks of Being a Wallflower. So it is possible that Snyder also wanted that for his Barry.

Thespian Ezra Miller has been cast as the Flash in Warner Brothers’ eponymous production, which is slated to premiere in 2018. That’s enormous news even for those who aren’t diehard DC Comics fans, because Ezra Miller is also openly queer, making it the first time a non-heterosexual has played the lead in a superhero movie.

Let’s get one distinction out of the way: The 22-year-old Miller identifies as queer, not male lover. Though the pos can mean alternative things to alternative people, it’s often used as an umbrella term to mean “somewhere on the spectrum of sexuality that’s not 100 percent straight.” In a 2012 interview, Miller told The Advocate “I’m queer… I have a lot of really wonderful friends who are of very different sexes and genders. I am very much in love with no one in particular.”

It may look ridiculous that we’re talking about this in 2014, when it feels enjoy there is no shortage of openly non-heterosexual actors in Hollywood. But the casting choice of a queer bloke as the head in a big-budget superhero, the embodiment of traditional American masculinity, is inarguably a huge deal. Queer actors

Ezra Miller IS the Flash

I believe that Michael Turner nailed the physical glance of The Flash. Like I said before, lean with tough legs. I also love how the ear bolts are drawn. They are slim and pointed upwards. I don't want them to look like earmuffs, because it will stand out horribly since he's lean.

So, as far as the suit style is concerned, I'm not absolutely sure if I'd like to see him in a complete body suit or otherwise. I wouldn't mind a full body suit, but I think there are some other designs that could be cool. Flash's suit is pretty plain, so there is plenty to work with. This one is interesting to me, because I like the yellow lenses and the colossal bolts on the side which would be cool to observe while Flash is running.

Flash Is Getting A Lgbtq+ Comic Book Character

We've already heard about a number of various DC Comics characters who will be making appearances on the first season of the new Flash television display, from Heat Wave to Captain Cold to Firestorm, but now a recent player has come along who actually has rather important role in the history in the medium. Hartley Rathaway a.k.a. Pied Piper, who was introduced as one of the first openly gay DC characters back in the mid-1980s, is reportedly going to be making his way to Central Metropolis sometime after the midseason break on the recent series.

This interesting scoop comes to us from TV Line, which has gotten its hands on an early description of how the new character will be portrayed on Flash. According to their sources, after the winter interlude audiences will be introduced to a new personality named Hartley who was previously a student of Dr. Harrison Wells (being played by Tom Cavanagh on the show). Having lost his hearing in an accident, the personality wishes to "wreak havoc with an invention of his own." At this point it doesn't sound like the role has actually been cast yet, but that may be something we hear further developments about in the com
