TRAFFIC ADVISORY: 2024 Capital Pride Parade and Block Party

On Saturday, June 8, 2024, motorists should obtain into consideration the following parking restrictions and street closures associated with the Capital Pride Pride and Block Party:

The Capital Pride Celebration will assemble on 15th Street from Rhode Island Street to U Highway, NW and proceed east on T Street, NW south on 14th Avenue, NW east on Pennsylvania Avenue, NW, where it will disband on 7th Street from Pennsylvania Avenue, NW to Independence Avenue, SW. The Capital Self-acceptance Block Party will take place on 17th Street from P Street to Riggs Place, NW.

Motorists looking to traverse Northwest and downtown DC may utilize U Street, Massachusetts Avenue, Independence Route, 17th Street, NW, and the 3rd Street Tunnel.

Please record, although vehicular traffic will not be able to cross 14th Street between U Street, NW and Independence Way, SW during the parade, residents will still be capable to access their homes if they live east or west of 14th Street. If you live between 16th Street and 14th Street from U Street to Rhode Island Avenue, NW, please approach from 16th Street and officers will assist you getting

2025 marks the 50th Anniversary of Pride celebrations in Washington, DC! The Capital Lgbtq+ fest Alliance is thrilled for Washington, DC to host WorldPride 2025 and divide this momentous and exciting milestone with our international collective. Come and honor May 23 – June 8, 2025!

Amsterdam will host WorldPride 2026.

 

Amsterdam is known as a city of tolerance. With 180 nationalities it’s the most diverse city in the World. The diversity is also related to our strong and vivid LGBTQIA+ community, which belongs to Amsterdam and strengthens its atmosphere of tolerance and creativity. It was in 2001 that the world’s first same-sex marriage was conducted by our former mayor. We are proud of this fact and in 2026 we will celebrate 25 years of marriage equality. Nowadays, tolerance for and autonomy of the LGBTQIA+ community is not widespread.   • Location: 14th & T Street NW (adjacent to Room & Board)
  • Admission: Entry is free, but registration is required for a wristband. Pre-registration has closed.
  • Accommodations: Folding chairs and room reserved for wheelchairs available on a first come first assist basis. ASL interpretation provided. Registration does not guarantee entry due to capacity.
  • Hours of Operation: Entry begins at 1PM. Area closes after conclusion of Parade.

  • Location: 1455 Pennsylvania Ave NW (south of Freedom Plaza)
  • Admission: Entry is free, but registration is required for a wristband.
  • Accommodations: Bleacher seating and space reserved for wheelchairs available on a first come first serve basis. Registration does not guarantee entry due to capacity.
  • Hours of Operation: Entry begins at 1PM. Area closes after conclusion of Parade.

Participation Grants

Through the support of our advocates, partners, participants, and individual donors, we are fortunate, through our Pride365 Fund, to be qualified to offer two opportunities to assist organizations with a financial need.

Organizations with financial need, can submit for one-time financial assistance, through our Pride 365 Fund. This grant is only open to first-time March or Festival participants. To utilize, please click the link below. Note that an active Pride 365 Community account is required to register for the Parade and/or Festival, and to apply for a grant. Once logged in, click “Parade and Festival Registration”. Volunteer Grants

Become an Alliance volunteer partner to assist in the success and impact of the annual Capital Pride Celebration. To qualify, your organization must be able to supply a minimum of ten (10) volunteers, for a minimum 4-6 hour shift, during Pride Celebration week. Your volunteer support will provide you the opportunity to raise funds for your organization or the Pride365 Fund, promote your corporation to the hundreds of thousands of attendees, and can support your participation
