Sorry if this seems a weird thread… but it's been playing on my brain a bit, and a friend brought it up today which has made me want to ask the question.
So I am in the pool for a Freightliner trainee driver job. As an openly same-sex attracted guy who has only ever worked in an office, for a adorable diverse company, I've never really trial direct prejudice against me for my sexuality.
I have genuinely no idea what the prevailing attitudes are towards this kind of thing on the railways, especially the freight sector, but I'm just a tiny bit worried about it, if I am totally truthful, and just wondered if anyone here had any life or thoughts either way...?

From what I've heard, homosexuality was quite common amongst 'Peak' bashers in the 1980s. I'm not sure why 'Peaks' in particular, but I've not heard of any other classes having a gay obeying.

I honestly don't know if that's true of not - the rumour may own been started many years ago by followers of a rival class and continued over the years. Certainly, I've never heard of any shinanegans occurring in a compartment behind a 45! Seriously though, I'm sure all classes of loco have followers of different persuasions, some will be open about it and others not.Rich said:
